River Ramble 2011 at Brodhead Forest and Stream Association
About eighty people enjoyed the hospitality of the Brodhead Forest and Stream Association (BFSA) and the programs, and great food, provided by BWA on August 12 at the 2011 River Ramble.
The 1200 acre BFSA property, along the Paradise and Brodhead creeks, was well suited for the diverse presentations on the program. Most popular, as always, was Don Baylor and Jim Hartzler, partners in Aquatic Resource Consulting, discussing stream insects and demonstrating electrofishing.

Darryl Speicher drew regular crowds interested in birds and their habitats.

Other presenters included Jason Smith of Hanover Engineering discussing stream improvement and fish ha bitat work he designed for the club, and Jason Fladd, forester, talking about forest management on the property. Lori Colgan and Amy Albert led walks to identify invasive plants, Mike Shepard, a descendent, talked about the graveyard containing the grave of Revolutionary War soldier Elias Utt.
Many thanks to Doug Swift, BFSA president and BWA board member, for hosting this year's River Ramble and Bertie Kitzhofer, caretaker for the club, for her cheerful assistance with everything.
